Medicine Lake Highlands

Tribal Water Protection

The Medicine Lake Highlands in Northern California are a significant source of water for tribes, endangered species and downstream urban and agricultural water users, however minimal protection is provided.

Working with the Mount Shasta Bioregional Ecology Center, Medicine Lake Citizens for Quality Environment, and the Pit River tribe we developed a synthesis of water resources in the region, developed a stakeholder outreach plan and state and federal policy opportunities analysis, and facilitated implementation of the plan. We are supporting continued advocacy, fundraising, and engagement, included support for climate resiliency planning, Clean Water Act designations, and land use protection.
