Assessing Impacts of Enbridge Line 3

The Obijwe Tribe and Honor the Earth were faced with the threat of a massive, 616-mile oil pipeline that would cross tribal treaty land and sensitive wild rice lakes. We led and managed a GIS-based analysis of the impacts of the proposed pipeline to sensitive and unprotected Obijwe tribal resources in northern Minnesota.

Key issues evaluated included wild rice lakes, traditional hunting areas, community and cultural areas of significance, such as gathering locations and burial mounds, wild rice lakes, sites of ecological and biological significance, and drinking water and groundwater quality.
